Support Implementation

We translate priorities into projects by designing solutions at the intersection of technology, markets, and financing. By innovating new public-private partnerships, financing instruments, and digital tools, we accelerate implementation and deliver impact faster.

Translating agreed priorities into practical actions

The multi-stakeholder platforms play a critical role in agreeing on priorities to address water challenges, but these need to be translated into effective action to achieve impact.

We offer project support in three key areas: water for food, water for cities, and water for the planet. In close collaboration with partners, we develop and implement innovative, scalable solutions identified through our platforms. These initiatives may involve policy and regulatory reforms or the execution of projects that enhance water security. Our rapid-learning methodology enables us to adapt to challenges as they arise, continuously refining our approach to achieve desired outcomes.

Our unique value lies in integrating private sector capabilities and investments into water projects, alongside strong governance from the public sector and active engagement from civil society. This collaborative approach ensures that projects are not only successfully launched but remain sustainable in the long term.

Our Approach

Each project is tailored to address local challenges, but they all share key components. We focus on innovative, proof-of-concept solutions with the potential for wider application. Successful approaches can be adapted into scalable models that are replicated across regions, amplifying their impact.

Key Elements Of Our Approach Include:

Data and Evidence-Based Decision-Making

Data underpins every stage of our projects, from planning to evaluation. This ensures that projects are based on solid evidence, allowing for real-time tracking and prompt adjustments when necessary. Transparent data also enables stakeholders to assess progress and maintain accountability.

Creating an Enabling Environment

We work with governments to establish the incentives, regulations, and standards that encourage private sector participation. This includes shaping policies that foster collaboration, such as tax incentives for water-efficient technologies and supportive regulations for water recycling. Clear frameworks for transparency and accountability build trust and unlock private capital.

Integrating Technology and Innovation

We prioritize innovative technologies and approaches. This includes water-efficient irrigation systems, digital platforms to support effective markets, remote-sensing based water accounting, and real-time water quality monitoring, among other areas. Beyond technology, we drive innovation through new financial and economic models, market-based solutions, and collaborative methods that align stakeholders.

Mobilizing Financing

We facilitate financing through the World Bank, other development finance institutions and commercial financiers using public-private partnerships, blended financing, the mobilization of commercial debt and pay-for-success schemes in addition to other standard offerings. These financing models encourage sustainable investment practices by aligning financial incentives with water security outcomes.

Unblocking Constraints and Facilitating Progress

We address challenges as they arise, whether navigating regulatory hurdles, coordinating stakeholders, or resolving operational bottlenecks. By identifying and managing potential obstacles early, we keep projects on track, fast-tracking implementation to ensure they achieve their full impact.

Examples
